Direct entry application
Applicants (other than International, Research and ACUonline) complete a ‘Direct Entry Application Form’ unless specified as UAC or VTAC in Courses at a glance on pages 3 to 5.

Direct Applications are available from our forms page or by contacting the student centre at your preferred ACU National campus.

UAC application - specified courses
NSW and ACT applicants for most postgraduate coursework programs apply through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC). UAC ‘Apply-by-Web’ applications are available at their website.  Go to the postgraduate section then click on the ‘Apply-by-Web’ under ‘Login Access" and follow the instructions provided. Application Forms and instructions (Form PG) are also available by contacting the student centre at your preferred ACU National campus or UAC. Applications through UAC do not require academic records as they are available electronically.

VTAC application - specified courses

English proficiency requirements
ACU National requires that all students have a good command of written and spoken English. Go to our English Language Requirements section for details.

Submitting certified copies of qualifications
Applicants must attach certified copies of results including proof of completion for all relevant previous studies.  Some courses require applicants to submit additional information such as a curriculum vitae or certified copies of other documents such as current Nurses Registration Certificate.

All copies of supporting documents must be certified.  Do not provide original documents.  The original document and a photocopy must be sighted and compared (by a qualified person), the photocopy is then stamped and signed as being a true and accurate copy of the original.  Applicants must not certify their own documents.

People qualified to certify documents include: Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Declaration, Barrister, Solicitor, Police Officer, Minister of Religion, School Principal, Town Clerk, Shire Secretary, Bank Manager, Doctor, Dentist, Pharmacist, Veterinary Surgeon, Accountant.

Applying for credit
Applicants applying for credit should also complete a 'Credit for Previous Studies or RPL Application Form’ and attach unit outlines from the handbook of the institution where relevant previous study was undertaken.

Cost of study
ACU National offers a limited number of HECS liable postgraduate courses but the majority of the postgraduate courses are fee-paying. 

Non-research degree students enrolling in a full-fee-paying course pay fees on a per subject basis each semester and the cost cannot be deferred.  The Postgraduate Education Loans Scheme (PELS) is an interest-free loans facility for fee-paying postgraduate students undertaking non-research courses.  It is similar to deferred payment arrangements available under HECS.

Students enrolling in a Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) liable course are required to pay differential contributions based on the individual units of study, not on the overall course.  HECS charges are calculated for a year and charged by semester.  Students have the option of up-front or deferred payments.  Those who pay up-front receive a 25% discount.

Student services fee
A student services fee is charged by the university to cover the cost of student services, insurance and other costs associated with providing student amenities.

Applying for online courses (ACUonline)
Applicants for courses offered in the on-line study mode must enrol and apply on-line through ACUonline.

Students may choose to study in mixed mode, ie on-campus and on-line.  A student who is currently enrolled in a course on-campus and who elects to study some ACUonline on-line units should not reapply through ACUonline for admission to the same course.  However, the student must apply through ACUonline.

International applicants
International applicants (for courses other than Higher Degrees by Research) apply directly to the International Education Office.

English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) are offered through ELICOS units in Melbourne and Sydney.  They provide courses which are designed to enable students who do not meet the English language requirements for University award courses to reach the required level.
