Higher degrees by research at ACU National
There is a demand for higher degree research graduates capable of the broad analysis needed in rapidly changing social, technological and economic circumstances.
High-quality research training is best provided in an institution that maintains an active and relevant research effort, and offers a strong undergraduate program.
ACU National provides its students with a broad range of higher education opportunities that have as their objective the advancement of scholarship and learning.
Higher degrees by research are integrated with the research activities of the University and, where appropriate, the recognised expectations of the professions.
Postgraduate research degrees
ACU National offers two programs in all faculties leading to the award of degrees by research:
The University awards the degrees of Master of Philosophy (MPhil) (by thesis) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) after either full-time or part-time study. Candidates are admitted to undertake a research degree in a field of study which has been broadly identified in the University's Research Management Strategy as an area of strength:

Candidates may also be accepted in fields in which there exists a demonstrated capacity for research supervision. Research degree students are accepted and enrolled in a faculty and may also be associated with the University's Institute for the Advancement of Research, a research centre or a flagship.
