The Australian Catholic University Eureka Prize for Research in Ethics is awarded each year for serious, intellectual investigation of theoretical or practical ethical issues contributing to the understanding and development of ethical standards. The prize is valued at $10,000.

    Professor Janna Thompson, from the ARC Special Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics at the University of Melbourne. Her prize winning research into historical injustices discusses the responsibility members of society have for the deeds of their predecessors and looks at possible ways of repairing injustices of the past. » More

    Associate Professor James Franklin from the University of New South Wales for Equality in Ethics and Mathematics, a research study arguing for objectivist ethic, based on the worth of people, at pure and applied levels. Associate Professor Franklin has surveyed Australian realist philosophy writings on ethics from the perspective of older natural law theory, and drawn consequences for  applied mathematics such as accountancy. » More

    Dr Justin Oakley, Director of the Centre for Human Bioethics at Monash University and Dr Steve Clarke, Research Fellow, Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics at the Australian National University and Charles Sturt University, for Informed Consent and Surgeons' Performance, a research study showing that the clinical performance of individual surgeons should be made available to prospective patients as part of the process of giving informed consent. » More

    Craig Fry, Senior Research Fellow at the Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre in Melbourne, for his report Ethical Research, Ethical Reporting - Who Sets the Standard?.

    Dr Jeremy Moss, from the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics at the University of Melbourne, for his report The Ethics and Politics of Mutual Obligation.
